Dakota’s fishing buddy Al is looking for a place to host his annual fishing derby. Pappy’s Pond would be the perfect location to host this event. Dakota would love our help in setting up and making this the best fishing derby ever.
If you are at least Level 12 you will see a pop-up inviting you to the Fishing Derby! You will need to force close the game to see the update, which means to clear it from your mobile device’s memory. You may even need to reboot your device.
Start off the quests by visiting the Derby Podium, located behind Eagle Eye Eddie’s airplane. The Derby Podium, where the winners will stand on; has a large digital scale to weigh fish, tanks to hold measured fish, and boxes of Reels, Rods, and other fishing gear, is where you earn Derby Points, and display the leaderboard.
The Fishing Derby starts on 15/02/2017. It has 2 stages, giving you a total of 12 days to compete with players for the top leaderboard position and complete the Fishing Derby quests.
The top 5 players at the end of each stage get to earn the exclusive Manx Cat. Those ending up in the Silver tier will get Gold Stamps, Padlocks, and Keys, while players in the Bronze tier will get Silver Stamps. Padlocks, and Golden Gloves!
The 2nd Stage will start on 21/02/2017, giving you another shot to win the Manx Cat. If you have won the Manx Cat from the first stage, this stage will give you the chance to upgrade her to a Fishin’ Cat.
Note: You will only be able to earn one of the rewards, not all three! Your rank on the last day of the event determines the reward you will receive!
The Derby Podium is located behind Eagle Eye Eddie. You will see 3 orders at a time that either can be harvested (crops), or crafted. Each item requested will have a different timer to allow you time to get the items needed.
Tip: Check the Farm Stand often to see if your friends are selling what you need.
Boosts: Gold and Silver Lures
You can boost the amount of Style points by 50% for coins, or by 100% with keys. There will be a timer once a boost is activated and a short cool-down period when you can buy another boost. Boosts will last 1 hour, and you can only select one boost at a time. (prices subject to change based on level)
Leaderboard:
The second tab will show you the leaderboard that you are in. Not everyone you know will be in the same leaderboard. The leaderboard tab will tell you which prize category you are currently in (Gold, Silver, or Bronze). You can also see how you rank among your friends. To be fair to all, you will be in a leaderboard with others of the same level.
Rewards:
You will see 3 different rewards that are broken into tiers. If you are in the top (Gold) portion of your leaderboard on the final day of the event, you will get the exclusive Manx Cat. If you are in the middle tier (Silver) at the end of the event, you will receive 2 Gold Stamps, 2 Padlocks, and 10 Keys. The lowest tier (Bronze) will reward you with 1 Silver Stamp, 1 Padlock, and 5 Golden Gloves. Now, for the very first time, participants who don’t place on any tiers will earn 5 Catfish and 5 Fish Eggs in the first phase, and 1,000 Coins in the second phase. You will only receive one of the rewards at the end, not all three.
Temporary Place of Interest: Pappy’s Bait-n-Tackle
Across the road from the Derby Podium is Pappy’s Bait-n-Tackle. You can send up to 4 Heroes here to get Event items such as refer to Catfish, etc.
New item needed and where to locate it:
Catfish: Pappy’s Bait-n-Tackle, Grandma’s Glade, Prized Cow, and Prized Chicken
Fish Eggs: Pappy’s Bait-n-Tackle, Merryweather Mine, Prized Pig, Prized Reindeer, and Prized Sheep
Fishing Tackle: Pappy’s Bait-n-Tackle, Pappy’s Pond, the Cove, Mallard Mill, Prized Horse, and Prized Goat
Tip: Crafted items that need these ingredients will be worth higher Artistry points! Make sure to have plenty of these items to help you move up on the leaderboard!
Temporary Farm Hand: Alvin Angler and Baldy the Eagle
Purchase Alvin the Angler, and/or Baldy the Eagle to help you during the Fishing Derby. They will help you find the needed rare event items, and will leave your farm once the event ends.
